Bario Hotel
Bario Hotel is woven into the streets of Otrobanda rather than contained inside a traditional hotel property. Its rooms, studios, suites and apartments sit among colorful buildings, murals and local art close to the waterfront. Each accommodation has its own layout and character, with vintage pieces, bold colors and artwork that make the spaces feel connected to the neighborhood.
Owners Kurt Schoop and Clayton Lasten are also the initiators of Kaya Kaya, the community project and street festival that helped bring new murals, events and attention to Ser’i Otrobanda. That connection gives Bario more purpose than a colorful design theme. Art, music and community activity are part of what happens around the hotel, and Kurt leads a weekly walking tour that shares the history of Otrobanda from someone closely involved in it.
Bario Food Yard has been home to urban street food, cocktails and live music, with separate windows for dishes including local food, fish, vegan options and desserts. The courtyard is also used for gatherings and creative events, so it is worth checking the current program before your stay. Beyond the hotel, restaurants, museums, shops, murals and the Queen Emma Bridge are all within walking distance.
