Foundation Tri Curaçao develops swimming, running and triathlon on the island through training programs and organized events. Adults can join triathlon training and masters swimming, while younger athletes are introduced to endurance sports through youth aquathlon, a race format that combines running and swimming without the need for a bicycle.
Youth development is a big part of the foundation’s work. Its aquathlon series gives athletes between 9 and 17 years old the chance to race individually while also collecting points for their school or athletics team. The current race format consists of a 1 kilometer run, a 100 meter swim and another 1 kilometer run, with individual, school and team champions recognized at the end of the series.
The foundation also works with community partners such as FDDK, C3 and Ronald McDonald House Charities Curaçao. Alongside training and competition, its running and swimming experiences use Curaçao’s coastline and lesser known routes to help residents and visiting athletes see a different side of the island.
