02. Travel Insurance for Bonaire
Medical travel insurance is strongly recommended for anyone visiting Bonaire. While the island’s local health centers can handle minor issues, serious cases may require transfer to Curaçao or other islands. The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is not valid here, and many home insurance plans have limited or no overseas coverage. Although travel insurance is not an official entry requirement, it is wise to have a policy that includes emergency medical care, evacuation, and repatriation, especially given Bonaire’s remote location.
