Pianist Daniel Smit comes to La Belle Alliance for an evening that moves through Debussy, Ravel, Chopin, Bach, Mozart and Busoni. The program spans very different periods and styles, with Chopin taking a central place before the recital closes with Bach’s Chaconne in Busoni’s powerful piano arrangement.
Smit trained in classical piano at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and kept music as a serious part of his life alongside an academic career. For this recital, he’ll be playing Avila’s Bösendorfer concert grand, which makes the setting almost as special as the program itself.
