Sunday starts very early because running a marathon in the Curaçao midday sun would be a questionable decision. The Full Marathon heads out first, followed by the Half Marathon and 10K as morning begins over Willemstad.
And the route is very Curaçao. Runners follow the waterfront, cross the Queen Emma Bridge and, depending on the distance, tackle the Queen Juliana Bridge high above the city. It’s one morning when some of Willemstad’s most familiar landmarks look completely different, especially when you’re running over them.
