New Year’s Eve in Pietermaai starts long before midnight. Nieuwestraat turns into a street party for the afternoon, with live music, food, drinks and the traditional pagara bringing the noise right into the middle of the neighborhood.
It’s one of those Curaçao end-of-year traditions that doesn’t need much explaining once the firecrackers start.
