Kura Hulanda Village
Welcome to Kurá Hulanda Village, the heart of Otrobanda and one of Willemstad’s most unique spots. Kurá Hulanda Village is a beautifully preserved slice of history where Curaçao’s past, present, and future come together. Nestled in downtown Willemstad, this UNESCO site has been restored to reflect its rich heritage, with cobblestone pathways winding through stunning 18th and 19th-century Dutch Colonial Caribbean buildings. The name “Kurá Hulanda” comes from Papiamentu, Curaçao’s native language, and means “Dutch courtyard.” Today, the village is home to a mix of vibrant businesses, cozy restaurants, shops, bars, a hotel, and a lively residential community and it is home of the Otra Guide and where our team’s office is. It’s also where you’ll find the Kurá Hulanda Museum—an anthropological treasure chronicling everything from the African slave trade and West African empires to the origins of humankind, Mesopotamian relics, and Antillean art. If you’re looking to explore history, culture, and community in one place, Kurá Hulanda Village is a must-visit.
