Luis Brion Statue
The vibrant atmosphere around Plasa Brion in Willemstad is enhanced by the presence of the Luis Brion Statue. Overlooking the picturesque Emmabrug bridge and the colorful Handelskade, the statue honors Pedro Luis Brion, a Curaçao-born hero. Born in 1782, Brion studied in Holland and fought against the British, leveraging his nautical and maritime expertise. He played a significant role in Venezuela's fight for independence and is celebrated for his dedication to human rights and democracy. Though he passed away in 1821, Brion's legacy lives on, symbolizing courage and patriotism.
