29. Banking
Any form of banking in Curaçao is a slow process. Avoid it if possible, unless you have to do emergency banking. If you are here for an extended stay, it often takes between 2 to 4 months to get a bank account set up, as there is all sorts of vetting of information, background checks, and verifying of source of income.
This is all in an effort to stop the practice of money laundering—but it can be extremely frustrating and time-consuming.
The Main Retail Banks are: MCB, Banco Di Caribe, RBC, Orco, Caribean Bank, Vidanova, CIBC FirstCaribbean, PSB Bank, DVB Bank, Giro Bank.
